About Creekside Morgans Creekside Morgans is located in the rich farming community of Avoca, New York. Once the epicenter of potato farming, the small agricultural town of Avoca is located near the intersection of Interstates 86 and 390 in the Finger Lakes region of New York State. The site of Creekside Morgans was once the homestead of E. M. Potato Company, which was active from the late 1930s through the 1980s. In August of 2003, we purchased the homestead farm to begin Creekside Morgans. On our retirement from long standing professional careers on Long Island, New York, we decided to expand our interests in the Morgan Horse by establishing a breeding program and actively showing our Morgans. Morgan horses have been a part of our married life since the early 1970s when Joe purchased a filly for Marion from Haley A. Sweeting, Sterling, New York. H. A. Kitty Harris was to remain a member of the family for better than 30 years. "Kitty" along with her stable mate, Arnona Cathleen, were purchased through Mary and George Arnold, Arnona Farm, Kanona, New York. Mary is most noted for her involvement in the creation of the New York State Morgan Horse Society Futurity. She served as President of the Society when it was in its "start up" years. "Kitty" and "Cathleen" enjoyed early retirements and many years of ranging together at Holly Hill Farm, Nissequogue, New York, and at Havens Stocking Creek Morgans, Bath, New York. "Kitty" was humanely euthanized in August of 2005. The breeding stock of Creekside Morgans (CSD) has been carefully selected for temperament, type, and talent, as well as proven bloodlines. The horses of Creekside have been shown in a variety of disciplines, in the most competitive arenas, bringing home many honors for their riders, trainers, and owners. The goal of our breeding program is to raise a Morgan Horse that typifies the breed’s characteristics while offering opportunities for their owners to pursue all facets of equine interests. Please feel free to contact us with your questions regarding the Morgan Horse and our stock. Sincerely, | |
